Summer in Topeka: What to Do, See, and Enjoy This July

July in Topeka has a way of reminding you why it is such a great place to call home. Between the festivals, outdoor events, and community gatherings, there is something happening almost every weekend. Whether you are a longtime local or newer to the area, here is a look at what is going on around town this month.

Fiesta Topeka Is Back

One of the most beloved events on the Topeka calendar, Fiesta Topeka is celebrating its 93rd year in 2026. This five-day festival runs July 14 through 18 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church grounds near Northeast Atchison Avenue and Chandler Street. Expect incredible Mexican food, live music, dance performances, a carnival midway, and a real sense of community that has been built over nine decades.

Before the main festival, the Fiesta Parade kicks off downtown on July 11 at 10:30 a.m. It is a great reason to head into the heart of the city and soak in some local tradition.

Live Music Filling the Streets

If music is your thing, July has no shortage of it.

The Topeka Blues Society brings their Summertime Blues series to the Gage Park Amphitheater on July 15 at 6:00 p.m. It is an outdoor summer evening done right.

Downtown Topeka continues to be a hub for live entertainment throughout the month, with events along S. Kansas Avenue and at Evergy Plaza drawing crowds on weekends and weeknights alike.

Friday Flicks Downtown

Looking for a laid-back evening out? Friday Flicks, presented by Communication Federal Credit Union, is back at 630 S Kansas Ave. Grab a blanket, bring the family, and enjoy a movie under the open sky. It is the kind of low-key summer tradition that makes Topeka feel like home.

Summer Nights at the Topeka Zoo

The Topeka Zoo has been running Summer Nights events on select evenings, giving families a chance to experience the zoo after hours. If you have not been yet this summer, it is worth checking their calendar at topekazoo.org for upcoming dates through the end of July.

For the Culture KS Fest

Mark your calendar for July 25. For the Culture KS Fest brings a celebration of music, art, and community to Topeka in a big way. It is one of the summer's standout events and a great reminder of the vibrant culture this city has to offer.
